Airdrie and District Victims Assistance Society (ADVAS) provides support, information and referrals to those impacted by family and domestic violence in Airdrie and surrounding communities.
We cannot anticipate how you might feel after being impacted by violence no matter what type of domestic situation you find yourself in. Your reaction to violence is not a sign of weakness and shows no age, gender or racial boundaries. It’s important to know what you can do and where you can turn for help during this time.
When you or someone you know has been involved in a family/domestic violence situation, ADVAS will review your safety needs, identify immediate needs, and support you when criminal charges are laid:
1. Review your current safety needs: Assist with protection order applications Assist with safety planning Assist with emergency shelter and transportation
2. Provide you with information if charges have been laid: Court dates, court education and attend court on your behalfAssist with Financial Benefits, Impact statements and Restitution applications
3.Connect you with community agencies to address your unique situation: Community Links Family Violence Programs, counselling, crisis lines, Alberta Works and more
