Golden Heart recipient for 2019
Airdrie and District Assistance Society established an annual award in 2003 in memory of Marlene Le Blanc, who served as a volunteer and a staff member. The Golden Heart Award is awarded to those who have shown outstanding, selfless efforts to reach out to victims and have extended above and beyond what is expected by the volunteer and their position. Recipients are nominated by their peers each year.
We are forever grateful for the wonderful jobs our volunteers do so well.
This year, ADVAS was blessed to recognize one of our volunteers with 10 years service. Sue Ferguson has repeatedly gone above and beyond for our community and we are very proud to honour her with our Golden Heart Award as voted on by her colleagues.
Sue is an advocate who tirelessly goes out of her way not only for victims, but also her fellow advocates. Understanding, compassionate, caring and fun are words often used to describe her. Sue’s outstanding efforts to reach out to victims and extend above and beyond what is expected of her in this volunteer role has not gone unnoticed.
Our advocates say: “Sue is by far one of the most amazing women I have ever met. She has such a warming soul. She always goes above and beyond to make sure everyone is well and happy.”; “She is selfless, always ready to help,”; “We are so lucky to have such an incredible individual not just in Airdrie, but on our team.”; “She is amazing, bubbly, helpful and caring.”
Thank you Sue, for continuing to support the victims in our community with your upbeat spirit, your incredible knowledge, professionalism and for helping your team members succeed to be the best they can be. We really appreciate you and all that you do for our organization and city.
